Così fan tutte – Mozart

21st November – 6th December 2021

A highlight of this year’s CosmoClassical Youth Orchestra will be a production of Mozart’s opera “Così fan tutte”.

Young people from all over Europe who are at the start of their professional careers (18-29 years old) will participate and collaborate to create a very remarkable youth orchestra, the “CosmoClassical Youth Orchestra”.

The exchange of information and experiences within this orchestra will convey to the participants the right professional principles to meet the requirements of a great future. All selected musicians (50 in total) will have their travel, accommodation and food expenses covered, and the opportunity to work for their roles with leading professionals.

Alexia Voulgaridou, the internationally acclaimed Greek soprano will bring her vast experience having sung such roles as Madame Butterfly, Mimì, Michaela, and Tosca all over the world. She has appeared on the stages of La Scala, the Bavarian State Opera, Hamburg, Covent Garden, Deutsche Opera Berlin, the Bregenz Festival, the Sydney Opera, Rome Opera, Geneva and the Hollywood Bowl to name but a few.

Joining in the production will be Gary Kudo, a veteran coach with thirty years experience working in Opera both in Europe and America. He is coach in the Mannheim National Theater in Germany and also has extensive teaching experience. He is a past Lecturer at Yale University and presently teaches also at the Mannheim University (Musikhochschule) in Germany.

Ms. Voulgaridou and Mr. Kudo will focus on the singer’s role preparation both vocally and stylistically. The emphasis will be to help and support young singers and instrumentalists starting out in the professional world.

The CosmoClassical Youth Orchestra is part of the Cosmopolis Festival and will be implemented and coordinated in cooperation with Pythia Social Cooperative Enterprise and the Municipal Conservatory of Kavala city. The activity is also co-financed by the European Solidarity Corps.

Alongside them we will have the pleasure and honor to host the distinguished musician Hector Tartanis who will take over the direction of the orchestra as a guest conductor, but also the experienced stage director Constantinos Contocristos who has directed theatrical and opera productions with great success and excellent reviews.
