Thanos Stavridis is one of the most recognized musicians in the field of accordion with collaborations with some of the greatest and most famous singers as well as composers and musicians both in Greece and in the Balkans.
Indicatively mentioned are: Evanthia Reboutsika, Alkistis Protopsalti, Socrates Malamas, Elli Paspala, Lizeta Kalimeri, Matoula Zamani, Makis Sevilloglou, Gerasimos Andreatos, Manolis Mitsias, Theodosii Spassov, Petar Ralchev, Vlatko Stefanovski, Pantelis Stoikos and many others.
He is also one of the pioneers of the Balkan music scene in Greece, having been a founding member of historical groups such as “Northern Partners”, “Cabaret Balkan” and now “Drom”. He has participated in over 100 recordings both as a soloist and arranger. His two personal albums “a Suitcase full of Dreams” (2016) and “Spicy Margarita” (2021) have received recognition and very good reviews both in Greece and abroad, with airplay on stations in Australia, Argentina and all over Europe.
For the last 13 years he has been teaching at the Department of Music Studies of the University of Ioannina (formerly the Department of Folk and Traditional Music of TEI of Arta). The New York-based Accordion Stars Illustrated magazine of Times Square Press includes him among the 100 most famous accordionists in the world for the years 2019, 2020 and 2021.
Angel Demirev is one of the best-known guitarists both in his home country, Bulgaria, and in Europe with collaborations with Cambo Agusev, the Shaka Zulu Orchestra and Tunisian oud player Amine Mraihi’s No-Mad Spirits. His on-stage collaboration with Thanos Stavridis and Drom will explore the musical horizons of Balkan and Mediterranean music, presenting their original compositions as well as arrangements of traditional melodies from the wider region.
With them, Christos Tasios and Yannis Karakalpakidis, on percussion and bass respectively, promise us a night full of explosive music.
