Piano and voice. Two significant, consistent elements in the compositions of Giannis A. Papaioannou. His triple identity, that of a pianist, a composer and a teacher, which defines him indicates the special relationship of the composer with the piano. His numerous works for this instrument reveal his continuous exploration for new ideas, composing techniques, piano compositions and music expression. Throughout his creative course, literature and poetry served as a consistent creative beginning which is captured in a number of vocal works. The special relationship of the composer with the Greek poets (such as I. Gryparis, K Palamas, K.P.Kavafis, P.Nirvanas etc.) emerges through his works for voice and piano. In the frame of the present performance there will be works for solo piano of almost all his creative phases which are combined, contradict and converse with representative songs for female voice and piano, offering, that way, a sample of the well-rounded compositions of G.A. Papaioannou.
The action is organized in collaboration with the Municipal Conservatory of Kavala.
